Moody Daughter – Help

Chaps
I am looking for some advice regarding my daughter.
She is 16 and over the last 2 years or so she has become more and more sullen, always defensive and more often than not rude and uncommunicative.
She speaks to me and my wife as if we are shit, even a simple comment or request is met with a grunt or some smart a** comment.
She refuses to do anything with us, preferring to be alone in her room. I have even resorted to taking out her tv but she will read or listen to music.
She has nice friends, goes to church, girls brigade and school, no dramas there.
I am pretty sure drugs are not involved, it just seems as though she hates her family.
The tension at home is horrible and I dont know how to react to her when she acts this way.
Is this just normal teen behaviour or is something wrong?
Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.
