Hey Dads,
My wife entered my garage yesterday as she normally does on a nightly basis. I figured it was just going to be another routine visit. When I looked at her as she approached I knew something was different. She reviled to me that we were pregnant. I was speechless, happy, sad, worried, confused and really just wanted her to go back in the house. I have never experienced all of those emotions at once. We are 28 years old, have been married three years and together five. We have always wanted kids but said we would wait until we are in our mid thirties. I own two successful businesses and we are financially strong. I always dream big and do things that others would classify as "risky" with no fears or concerns. Yet I am totally freaked out to think that I am going to be solely responsible for a child. Is the way I am feeling normal? I always thought that I would be over joyed to have a baby but now I just seem confused. I always plan everything to a T and since this was an un planned pregnancy I believe this is the reason for all my concerns. I am just looking for a little reassurance that I am not the only one who has felt this way. I will feel much better once I can tell my parents, family and friends. Right now we are not going to say anything until she is 8 weeks along and have been to the doc. Actually I feel a lot better by just writing this thread. Any advice or personal stories would be great! Thanks!

Hi and welcome!
Do not be alarmed what you are feeling is quite normal. I'd be very surprised if any dad in this forum didn't have similar feelings when hearing the news of pregnant partner. Confusion is mild. I had feelings of out right terror (mixed with joy). Its a massive step in man's life to become a father and its only a normal that you would have a whole mixture of emotions reacting to it.
Good luck with it all and pls let us know how you get on.
Best
G
